“Super Trouper” Sangria

Theme up your classic sangria with Metexa, a Greek spirit made with brandy and muscat wine, and botanicals like anise and rose petals for a Greek twist for a Mamma Mia movie night.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) of red wine
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh orange juice with pulp
  • 2 1/2 cups lemonade
  • 1/2 cup Metaxa
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, pour in the red wine, orange juice, lemonade and Metaxa.
  2. Add in the chopped apple, and stir in the sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon.
  3. Place in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours, but ideally overnight.
  4. Strain into a clean pitcher before serving.

Notes

Metaxa can be switched out for regular brandy.
